When I worked for a pharmaceutical giant handling the Clinical Trials database it was close to that number but the company used Oracle so it doesn't really apply.

What are you using linked servers for? I would recommend against using them too heavily as they can create security holes. I would recommend looking into SSIS instead....

Without knowing specifics about the SSIS package this is hard to solve. Here is the relevant KB from Microsoft but it probably wont help you: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973746

This sounds like you are running other applications on the same server as SQL server. This is generally not considered best practice because of the way that SQL server...
