you will need to disable the instance in your cluster resource group.
Once disabled you can then stop the service without any failover (as the resource is disabled)

What was happening? Well everytime i tried to backup the log file manually, using t-sql or starting a agent job I would get this error message.

I have suggestered a change to Nightly Full backups followed by logs every 30mins.
