    your login may not be mapped to the user account. Have you switched servers lately?

    You may have a user in this database, but do you have a login to the SQL Server? You'll find that in SSMS under <<instance>>...Security...Logins. If...

    Can you use another user who can log in, and if you look in the SQL logs there should be entries in here to do with the failed login...
