I tried doing the data type conversion using cast but it did not work

In the input column the hash value is in bytes and in output column it is string

What to do if we want to replace the word 'good' with 'bad' in all those sentences?

I wrote it like this:

REPLACE(columnname,'good','bad')

Is there any other way to do this?
