What I omitted to say was that SQL Server is stopped whilst we backup the data and log folders (.mdf and .ldf files). Therefore from your response SQLBill, I assume I am O.K....

i am replicating 4 tables only, one of which has two triggers as dependencies. Both triggers have 'not for replication' on them on both the publisher and subscriber.

Does this mean that I can't find out who is using the sa login thru any Microsoft product? Profiler can tell me what pc is using it, isn't there anything available...
