I'm not sure this is true. It looks to me Data Type Precendence determines the data type not the order in the UNION or VALUES...

In SQL Server 2008 the INSERT statement has been enhanced which enables to insert multiple records using the VALUE clause in a single INSERT statement.

insert into #test values

(2,'D'),

('','E')

Above...

"Point" does not matter however question matters.

I have found the question interesting and am sure there will be good learning for me.

Do you have clue on the additional comma which just before the closing bracket (i.e. Amount INT,)?

I am curious about two issues:

1. Extra comma

2. Column name 'Date'

The extra comma should have given error.

Any ideas!!

Even I had not noticed the extra comma.
