The Sql Server Express cannot be a distributor. It can only be a subscriber with a push subscription to it.

Be sure to do a push subscription to the Sql Server Express. The push subscription will run from the ss agent on your publisher / distributor.

As previously mentioned, you can assign a variable in a script task which is a Visual C++ or Visual Basic program.
You assign the variable to the Script Task ReadWriteVariables property...

Not sure it would help, but you can do snapshot replication without primary keys which could be run nightly.
