Yes,it is possible to replicate the column changes.
Right click on Publisher -->click on properties
In property window,choose the Subscription option then make Replicate schema changes -->True

Can you check the network configuration in SQLSERVER surface area configuration whether all the services is having the remote connection permission or not.

Try this,Stop the synchronization process and then change the articles in Publisher database.
