I know shrinking is not so good idea. I have no option except shrinking to gain space and that too is on dev server.
Now what's happening is shrink opertaion is...

If its not shrunk by 500 mb, whats the surity it would do for 50 gb. Also, i tried doing rebuilding indexes, but not fruitful.

Shrink database didn't work. I have tried it before. Also, increasing the size and then shrinking is not sufficing the requirement too.

And, if you want do make it read-write, you need to break the mirroring and as mirror database is in no recovery mode, you need to issue the following command...
