I', not going to mess with the PATH Variable for now. I installed the Oracle Client 32 & 64 bit.I get an error when testing an Oracle connection.

I really can't understand why Oracle still uses search paths for the client software :crazy:
It feels so 80's (DOS where the days).

If my memory serves me right I think you need both 32- and 64-bit Oracle Client. If you're using BIDS (32-bit)you need 32-bit client to connect to the Oracle database....

Sounds like standard configuration files would work for you. But as you did not answer Elliott's question (even though you quoted it!) I can't be certain.

BIDS is renamed to SQL Server Data Tools. Re-run the setup program and select SQL Server Data Tools as a feature.
