That cpu benchmarks at about 40% what a new e5-2690 does. 2.5x the cpu can kick the can down the road quite a bit.

They can give you a high level view of your server, and can provide evidence to help determine if things are improving or getting...

Which OS (be specific please)?
What kind of HW (# of cpu's, ram, etc)?
How big are the Databases?
Have you run sp_updatestats?
Are you performing regular index maintenance?
