The application on server tries to login every 30 sec or so and get faield..
Is there a possible way to block the connection attempt thru the sql server ?

in sql 2005 go to log shipping monitor server
click on server
on right hand side see reports
scroll down
transaction log shipping status
u can see the status

Was the login able to log into the system before the change password attempt? --It asks to change password at the first time new login enters...and then it throws...

Did you check if those logins exist in SQL Server Security? Probably, they might be existing under database logins but not under sql server security!!
