Think your right...Deny is what I wanted, also the knowledge to programmatically change the status of the permissions on a 'global' scale, i.e. all of them, to the choice...

Sorry its taken so long to reply. I had problems with EM yesterday and completed a re-install and it seems to have fixed this problem also. Did also install SP3

Just found some info in my SAMS book, Developers guide to SQL Server..and appears 7.0 is ok...

Am i right in thinking this only ships with SQL Server 2000. Is is possible to use with 7.0

At the time of the failure there was a transaction log back up occuring. This failed.
On the Application error log there were plenty of errors showing. Interestingly there are couple...
