What I meant by Non-privileged users was users other than sysadmin users(DBA's)... Ofcourse the Non-privileged users have access to SQL Server...

From what I can understand you need to know more about your database structure... Basically a better understanding of the database... Try out some third party tools... I'll suggest Dezign......

First of all try pinging your Server from the client machine...
If that succeeds then make sure your remote connections are enabled from Surface Area Configuration...

Check your errorlogs to know more about the kind of error you are getting. It can be an error related to your SQL Server or it can be something outside...
