What are you lokking to restore? Just a single database or one of the system DB's?
If it is just regular database, assuming you have the correct BSM for SQL Server...

In most of the clusters or SAN's I have seen, the disk controllers are redundant as well. Thus eliminating a controller failure.

Within the DTS package the step is setup as a WIN32 task. If this uses xp_cmdshell, then yes, but I am not sure what DTS uses to execute WIN32...
