I don't think I can do the backup/truncate part. this is part of the production database and for reasons I can't detail here, I can't use our normal backup solution...

Normally this would be ok but these are for some vendor products which require conflicting character sets on the tempdb and other db's , and don't seem to play well...

The part I don't fully understand is what will be placed in rollback. This system will have maybe one connection, from a default connection pool via an app server....
