On the old server, the SQL installation (including data & log files) are in D:\SQLServer2005\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\...
On the new server, the SQL installation was installed in the default of C:\Program Files\Microsoft...

If you're moving to 64-bit servers you should probably use 64-bit SQL Server unless there is some compelling reason not to.

I thought the 2008 R2 Express version has a 10GB limit.
