hey lost track whose porblem was it but it is a simple fix right click on the Excel Source and choose Advanced Editor and then Sselect INPUT OUTPUT PROPERTIES TAB...

I'm using excel 2003 i.e. xsl

It is a .xls file but the i cant preview the data if the spreadsheet is closed I get an error saying "external table is not in format"
