when i need it to result like this:

Consultant name No. of operations

Dr Smith ...

sorry ive got this working. what i need now is code to find the number of operations per consultant soo it looks like this:

COnsultant Total no. of operations

Dr Bloggs...

table b is just a lookup table and remains unchanged.

thanks but i am told not to use a view but to actually update the reasonforreferral column from table a with the description column from table B with an update...

any chance on how i would go about that?
