It was a tricky question to see how much you know about backup/restore.It does not make any sense to have full & diff backup scheduled on same time.

First try to restore your backup on 32 bit OS only.It may be possible that the backup is curropt.

A FULL datbase backup do not break the log chain.if you switch from FULL or BULK Logged model to SIMPLE recovery modle breaks the log chain.

Checkpoint in FULL Recovery Modle will not make log available for reuse or shrink it.
