I setup replication using the impersonate settings, so it's using the SQL Agent account which is domain and is an Admin on both boxes. I'm still getting the error.

You are correct when you state that sp_updatestats will use the last sampling rate. BUT, in order to ensure that it will use the FULL from your UPDATE STATISTICS...

Yes you can, you will get the error, click properties. You will get another dialog stating that you need Management Studio to register, do you want to register anyway?...

This might seem like too obvious of a solution but, just run a backup and restore when you need to. Why do you want to have it in a script?

Is your data stored in Unicode? Do you use nchar or char? If it's stored in Unicode you will send in Unicode.
