I was hesitating to reopen this topic ... but the issue has cropped up again and I have no leads to resolve this ...
The process has started taking up 12-13...

Well, the reboot did remove the stuck sqldumper.exe process.
However I have seen this happening a couple of times. If anyone has seen this before, kindly let know if it has...

Nope its not custom. It started 3 days back, till then it was logging normally.
All other SQL related events are also normal.

Finally I got the resolution.
The reports were using DB2 datasource and there was a problem on the db side itself

The reports are not that huge ... usually they get rendered in 5 mins (average)
The data pulled for the reports is from other systems, and not necessarily on the same...
