I have installed this hotfix on different machines. But I have downloaded into d:\DBA\Software\Fixes\8.00.0818\SQL2000-KB815495-8.00.0818-ENU.EXE. Then extracted using Winzip into d:\DBA\Software\Fixes\8.00.0818\SQL2000-KB815495-8.00.0818-ENU\*.*.

Most of the vendors will offer the Backup with pretty fast timings. Because this backup is not from SQL Server. Its from their console software & hardware drives. Pretty amazing actually.

If you goto SAN's the SAN manufacturers will offer seperate solutions for backup, recovery, standby, hardware mirroring, etc.

Can you try using "sa" account? Must be something to do domains... But you should be good to go with "sa" account registration...

Can you also check how you registered this SQL Server from MMC?
Is it using "sa" or Windows NT? Are these two boxes in two seperate domains?

To my understanding, If you register that server using Windows Authentication (Trusted) you need Local Admin rights on the server to be able to edit this option.
