You can use xp_cmdshell for that in order to copy to another server in SQL. 🙂

You can use DMV views in SQL 2005. If you have SQL 2008, you can use it as Central Management Server for all SQl 2005 and it has also ready...

I think SQL 2008 can answer to your needs. I'm against with triggers, it will degrade the performance of a database.

We have techique on how to do it, by patching first the active node then re-start and then the passive node and then re-start. So that when server will up...

SQL Server 2005 SP3 is quite good enough on some of the bugs in SQL 2005.:-P
