Are you after a map of all the system tables?
Microsoft produces a hardcopy schema that you can put up on the wall. Don't put it up near an Oracle...

I don't think you can necessarily improve query performance with changes here, but you can probably improve disk space usage.

I would suggest change your admin SP that counts sysprocesses rows, rather than looking to change the way SQL's working for you.
You'll probably upset the SQL Development Team...

My thoughts at first too Andy, but then: a) can connect as sa, and b) it issues "18456 Level 16" which means it's making contact and then being rejected.

What I usually do in these situations is use Profiler, filtering on the hostname that I'm testing from.
Then I run the DBCC DROPCLEANBUFFERS, and then the old script/SP...
