If you're having issues after installing a patch typically the call to MS PSS is a free one. Obviously you'd want to run it up through management...

As a test can you run the backup job to see if it picks up the new database without having to "tweak" the maintenance plan? Very curious as what...

I have my backups first, then the integrity checks, BUT the reasoning behind that is I don't want to abort ALL my backups if just one database has an issue.

Oh, one other point that matters: If you rebuild and index, don't bother with a stats update. Rebuilding an index updates the stats for you. Not true...
