Thanks for that, I thought the same and was wondering if there's a way in 2005 without hacking the registry. I guess a clean install is a better way forward.

unfortunately there's more than one reference table, so deleting from the child tables will take a long time.

I generated the DDL which included everything which made me think there must be a way to generate only the indexes and delete as appropriate.

I've taken a copy of the database that works and restored as the failed one and now i'm waiting for the application guys to send another message through.

No they are not user defined. I was trying to see if I can generate the event IDs especially 322. I can generate event id 17052 in the application event...
