I will answer my own question. ARITHABORT must be on in order that xqueries such as VALUE() work.

So I began my logon trigger code with:

set arithabort on

and it...

The idea is very nice, but I can´t make this work.

The problem is that value() does not work inside logon triggers. In fact, it seems xqueries don´t work inside logon...
