If you use an alias od.orderid it still lets you do it & the overall code still works & returns no rows.
You would hope to spot...

Fixed it.
Runningvalue does work across columns or rows in a matrix.
It just seems that you can't do it across columns AND across rows IN THE SAME MATRIX.

CDC is fine for tracking DATA but what about WHO changed it? I can't even seem to write a join query to show the changes to the data by who?

Thanks to those who reminded me that this is ultimately just a gaps & island problem.
In reality I was only interested in Fridays so all the dates are 7 days...
