Your language is little confusing...what I understood is you have taken backup 2 days back and now your system is crashed...
In this scenario..You will be able to restore the DB...

Not sure how you guys suggesting mirroring...as per my understanding mirrored DB is not accessible (till failover) .....how that can be used for reporting?

run below command on your replicated DB
EXEC sp_change_users_login 'Update_One', 'UserName', 'LoginName'
Theory:
When you restore DB only users are replicated not Logins....that is one of the reason of Orphaned users in the...

Yup..its 24x7 prod box...so cant restart services very often...
There is maint plan which does tasks like update stats, reindexing etc...at that time only tempdb grows....
sp_who2 shows some INSERT command on...

I dont have Cluster server with me as of now...but I guess you should able to get this info in Cluster Management Console..or in event logs

As per my understanding and exp one should never modify any system objects...if you really wish some modification why dont you copy the code of system SP to new SP...
