I have read and heard from a few people that 1.5 times is recomended but I have also read up to 3 times if Analysis Services is installed too.

Can't backup master tran log even though it will allow you to change the recovery model.

Dave, The page file is way undersized. Microsoft recommends a page file of at least 1.5 times the size of the physical memory. Your page file should be around 21GB not...

If your databases are out of sync you can check the SQL Server log of the monitor server to find out how far out of snyc they are.

What about using a mapped drive letter to the UNC path? Have you tried that for SQL 7?

Support for SQL 2000 is ending soon. Any reason why your are not moving to 2005?

If the db's are a backend for a purchased application, it's nice to split the files to make FTPing easier for troubleshooting but that is usually an ad hoc backup.
