Hope you solved this issue. If yes, was it the running of OLEDB Oracle provider in process that was crushing the SQL Server?

It looks like by default the maintenance plans steps are join by "on completion", not by "on success".

I have and had quite a few issues with SQL Server integration with WMI especially with the Configuration Tools, so I am at the point that I think that regardless...

I think this is right as long as you do it for an application that you have developed, but for an application developed by a third party that might not...

The issue is that the application is a third party application, we haven't developed it, we are just doing QA (after OS and application patches, functionality, etc) and training
