DavidBurrows, I've just "googled" the web on this matter and it seems that a datamart is designed for 1 purpose where a datawarehouse has a larger (probably company-wide) scope....

can't you migrate into 1 of the 2 databases ? Oracle or SQL server, so only one database engine is needed ?
Putting them together might at least giving you troubles...

There are points where MS Sql server rules:
1) ease of installation
2) user-friendlyness of enterprise manager
