Hi, thanks for the idea, unfortunately Auto close is off on this database.
The problem appears to be related to named pipe connections vs tcp/ip. I will post the results...

I looked at this setting, however I have user instances turned Off so it is disregarded 🙁

They are connecting with an application installed on their desktop client, which uses and ODBC connection.

Did you enable named pipes?
I noticed that if you use the Browser it connects with Named Pipes, even if you have an alias.

I'm sorry, I guess I don't understand? Are you trying to script a CREATE DATABASE procedure? BOL has the definition of how to do this, however I'll post that here...

This is telling you that the account running SQL Server does not have access to the drive and/or folder. It is a permissions issue and once you correct the permissions...
