Sounds like the user account maybe disabled, you can see the SQL aspect on the last tab of the user.

Is this error not related to not setting a max memory setting for the SQL Server?

Looks like a Kerberos authentication issue with regards to delegation. Google it, theres lots of info about setting up delegation and the appropriate SPNs.
