  • RE: Replication Script Question

Is that script generated using the SSMS option.

It does tend to assume you are starting from scratch to create the publication.

Shouldn't there be accounts that are members of the Publication...

  • RE: Trying to setup Merge Replication

Yeah..you need to have a little read up on replication. Although merge is one of the more complicated forms, it's still fairly easy to set up. And as mentioned you...

  • RE: Replication - Error

    Hi,

I think you need to read a little bit more about replication. Especially if you are supporting a production server.

Your answers to my questions suggest a very limited knowledge.

    My advice....

  • RE: Replication - Error

    Sorry I'm a little confused.

You are using Transactional replication..is that correct ?

What is failing at midnight ?

Is it the distribution agent or the snapshot agent ?

    Can you tell me where...

  • RE: Replication - Error

For transactional replication, the snapshot is only applied once to sync with the subscriber.

Are you saying that you have transactional replication configured so that the snapshot agent runs every night...

  • RE: Replication - Error

So you've set up your replication and you now see replication jobs within the agent..is that correct ?

One should be a snapshot agent job. For your transactional replication, I'm guessing...

  • RE: Replication - Error

    Ok..

So the Snapshot is failing..is that correct ??

Are you running this as a SQL job or some other way?

Can you run it manually ?

    Thanks

    Graeme

    Hi,

How many tables in the publication?

    What type of replication ?

What accounts are you using for your agents ?

Any server configuration that is specific to your company ??

    Thanks

  • RE: sql server 2008 queries with intermittent poor performance

    Hmm..ok.

And your test environments are configured the same, albeit with less resources.

Have you load tested the application at all ??

This probably need a structured approach..and the articles posted by Gail...

  • RE: sql server 2008 queries with intermittent poor performance

    Hi,

That sounds quite familiar to me...

Is the database being updated or is it read only ??

Have you minimised locking in the procedures ??

The high cxpacket value does suggest some parallelism...

  • RE: rebuild index sql server 2008 standard edition

Rebuilding indexes online is only available in Enterprise or Developer editions..which I suspect you already know.

Reorganising is the only real option open to you.

A rebuild of an index needs to...

  • RE: delete tables

Why don't you archive the data to a csv that can be zipped up into a fraction of the space..that way you have a fall back if the data is...

  • RE: Script for checking when table was last updated

With 2008 you can also use CDC (Change Data Capture) or Change Tracking. Both are useful but require a little thought on what your needs are.

    Another option is Audit triggers...

  • RE: SQL Server 2008 R2 SSIS Job Step Proxy Account with PsExec

Like I said have tried getting the proxy account to do something simple through a job step..like create a folder or copy a file. Does the sql Agent account have...

  • RE: SQL Server 2008 Subscriber to SQL Server 2000 Publication

    Ok..

I recall an article by Microsoft that might help..it discusses using Alias' with the Client Network Utility

    Hope this helps !!
