New server is very similar to old server just newer (i.e. better CPU, more ram, more storage - but same raid / SSD setup etc). Nothing seems to explain why...

Actually just spotted one difference (except for the normal stuff you'd expect, login name etc) was:

I've tried running:
select *
from sys.dm_exec_sessions
And they seemed to be both have the same ANSI stuff.

I think I remember being told that constraints reserve the next ID before checking whether they pass or fail. Do you have any constraints on the table?
