We do full backups on a daily basis.  That is sufficient for our needs.   Truncating the log was acceptable.

I ran these commands to Shrink the log file:

backup

log Linkages WITH TRUNCATE_ONLY

DBCC

SHRINKFILE('Linkages_log'
