Your first thought is a good one. I ftp and delete the file 5 days a week but my file creation package runs every day and sure enough it failed...

This is the setup I have used with success. Particularly useful if the structure of your tables changes frequently.

I would also consider SSIS but if you want to continue to use access you can setup DSN-Less connections. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892490

Thanks all, I would say this is resolved, backup times have been greatly reduced by backing up to a different array of disks on the SAN.
