After downloading the management software I'm able to use SQL Server Express just fine.

Okay, here's where I am at. Uninstalling the Logitech webcam allowed SQL Server Express to finally clear the error for 'restart computer'. Eventvwr shows a number of SQLSERVER...

SQL Server is running
SQL Server Agent is stopped and I can't see how I could start it,
same for SQL Server Browser.

Looking in eventvwr I see a couple of warnings, but that is all. They do not appear to be related to SQL servere

Configuration Manager shows SQL SERVER(SQLEXPRESS), SQL SERVER AGENT (SQLEXPRESS) and SQL SERVER BROWSER.
I don't know what the other thing you mentioned is.

Hi,
This is "MICROSOFT SQL SERVER 2008 EXPRESS EDITION" according to the read me.
I cannot finish the installation or uninstall, so I'm stuck.
