This role would only have access to apply SQL patches and service packs.

We'll give it a shot. One piece of the puzzle I forgot to mention is that once the databases arrive on Server 2 they remain in a warm standby mode...

Just in case....the SQL 2000 utility was TextCopy.exe

I am trying to insert a wav file as an image which I could do with TextCopy.exe and a stored proc in 2000...

They do grow but we do shrink them. We are testing DiskKeeper now.

These databases have to be online 99.999% of the time. I am going to test all the options suggested to determine which one works best in this situation.

I have tried putting an empty Excel file in the destination path. I have tried letting it create the file and either way I end up with a Connection failed...
