Have you checked the Windows Task Scheduler tasks? I really don't like those because they can be overlooked when you're looking for jobs....

Yes, I actually rebooted this server before I checked the value of machinename, servername.
select @@servername does return the correct name.
but SELECT serverproperty('ServerName') still reflects the old name.
