Always add brackets when mixing operators. Even if you know the rules, brackets make a calculation less prone to misunderstanding.

Perhaps SQL types aren't quite as impressed by presentation as some sectors of the IT population. Rather like engineers (are we data engineers?), we look at function first every time....
