  • RE: Calendar Tables III - Changing Business Rules

Disappointing to see DateTime being used in this case where it is clearly a Date. Why bother with a Time portion to a Data Type when it will never be...

  • RE: Binary

Excellent Question. Reducing things to Binary should remind Computer people of our origins.

  • RE: New Year's Eve

I'm disappointed that the question used the "datetime" data type. This has clearly been replaced by Date, Time and Datetime2. Obviously some of the established forum members can't move on.

  • RE: It's not the platform

Our IBM i Systems are hosted by IBM so they definitely do get patches applied.

When I was alluding to 24x7 and reliability I was referring to Errors that only go...

  • RE: Santa's Reindeer

Happy belated Christmas & New Year greetings. Hope it was good for all.

    I love Steve's Specials.

If these Special Questions don't make sense to others then that's just an outcome of...

  • RE: It's not the platform

I enjoy SQL Server more for the included Tools than anything else. SSMS is a Great Tool as is SSIS.

The SQL Server Database Engine is still stuck in PC...

  • RE: Merry Christmas 2013

Belated Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

I do like this Forum. It has more of a Family Feel than some I've been involved in. It's heartening to see people disagreeing...

Sorry, but those "examples" aren't examples because they don't show the results of the illustrative statements. It's too bad that we who got it wrong couldn't have...

    Nice easy one.

But isn't the right answer is "It depends? (On whether you are using Access or SQL Server) :hehe:

    Duh ! SQL Server Question. I don't...

  • RE: Try.. Catch..

Having come late to this discussion, I don't see any good reason why the Internals of a UDF should affect the usage of the UDF. This to me seems like...

  • RE: CONCAT 1

This is a good QOTD. Obviously brought out a lively discussion about Nulls.

Microsoft have done a good job of providing a Function that works the way most people would prefer...

  • RE: TSQL-Order by

Good Question. I've never really thought about Nulls being in a Column that I was ordering. In general the "Order by" Columns tend to the most important Columns in the...

  • RE: Between Clause

A good addition to the recent questions using BETWEEN.

The Answer is completely Logical to me and I don't see anything Asymmetrical about the behaviour of the Lower and Upper...

  • RE: Temp Tables revisited

Overall this is a Good QOTD. The Lesson about Parsing happening before Execution certainly brought me back to doing the Basics in the correct order.

  • RE: Date add with Different DataType

I find this QOTD annoying as it ends up implying that DATETIME is somehow superior to DATE when it isn't.

It has taken Microsoft a long time to add DATE and...
