You are comparing apples to oranges.

SSRS is a reporting tool.  You input 1 or more parameters, a query is sent, and a dataset is returned and displayed. Full stop.

Why would you be storing the a "Join Date" or "Hire Date" with a time component?

When storing the date, "zero out" the time portion. Then in your SP/Query all...

I came up with report or query which was able to at least 'cross reference' the jobs. Although, the server hasn't gone down since, so I haven't had a chance...
