i have used transactional replication for reporting
Make sure you set all the report users to read only so they dont change it

is this for all users or just a handfull
It is possible that a handful of users may have different SID so it is conflicting.
which can be fixed with sp_change_users_login 'report'

there are lots of reasons to setup partioning
And if there is a reasonable chance the database is going to grow as they tend to do. Better to do it...

i have this problem almost every day
since everytime sql looses connection with the mail server (we have a very flaky old mail server)
xp_sendmail get hosed upgrade to 2005 makes this...

did you login using the outlook user name that sql is using to see that mail is working on the server
did you xp_stopmail and xp_startmail
have you stopped and started sql...
