On a 64 bit sql server with windows 64 bit you will need two versions of Oracle clients
i) 10 G 64 bit for Linked Servers
ii)11 G 32 bit for ODBC/OLE...

thanks everyone...the same job takes only 40 mins on their old servers..i compared the settings everything looks to be the same...i know ders no point in using the linked server...

thanks Greg...but the only problem with filesystem is like the packages need to go under certain security policy like "rely on server storage for access"..i dnt think i can make...

thanks..but the post talks only about DTS...im looking to create a role for the jobs with the respective actions which i mentioned in my initial post..

hmm..i can do that but..like if i set deny permission on that role then it will be applied to all the logins associated to that role..i was trying to replicate...

after deleting and re-creating the job..so far it worked fine in test..i will have to observe few more days..thanks everyone for suggestions..
