Like told in the optimisation step, just take a look of the execution plan's a look for Queries which are using a FULL TABLE SCAN etc. Try to change this...

In the comming soon version of ReportingServices there will be a "Tablix" object which combines the Table and the Matrix known from RS2005. Maybe you can wait for this version....
