That sounds like a Kerberos double hop issue. This article gives some information as to what that is:

We tend to use DNS aliases (CNAME) for all our application connections so if we ever change servers we just update the alias in DNS and don't need to touch...

I have a work laptop but it never leaves the office and very rarely gets logged off. I use Citrix or VPN/RDP to connect to it from my own laptop...

Thanks for your reply. max degree of parallelism is set to 1 on both servers. They are SAP systems and that is their recommended setting for it.
