yup.. definitely works with excel...everything is through AD.. just make sure you create a new role and assign appropriate permission to your group or individual users...
the users would not need...

yeah.. indexing is basically all automated.. you don't create index per se.... because cube is really for aggregated results.. not to find a single entry (like relational index)

I routinely move that much data using SSIS, with fast load option without worrying too much... depends on your size per row, it may be faster than you think too

hmm... CPU is identical on both servers.. Memory is the same as well
Available memory during run time seems similar
We have 72 GB on BOTH DW servers, and 32GB...
